🏛 Community Adoption Fund - Community Call, 18th Jan. 2024 🏛 Thanks for taking part in yesterday’s Community Call! The Community Adoption Fund is a significant step in Vega’s journey and it’s really important to get your input throughout this process – let’s get those initial discussions going 🫰🫰🫰 If you're just getting started with the CAF, here are some valuable resources for you: CAF Announcement Blog CAF Community Call Slides The project team responded to questions from the community regarding the CAF, which are worth sharing: 💰 How will the community manage this treasury? That's up to the community and one of the reasons for starting this consultation and bringing together key active and engaged community members now in this forum is to allow time for the community to form some ideas about this. The funds will not be controlled by the project team and managing funds in the on-chain treasury is not something the team have control over (if they were just going to end up doing this there would be no point putting the funds on-chain in this way in the first place). 💧 All liquidity incentives or funding rewards for staking rewards will be decided through governance? Not necessarily all, at least initially, but the amount that comes from other pools/sources will reduce (probably significantly) over time. 🏛 On what basis should the community evaluate the effectiveness of these incentives and pay it? For the community to decide but from the discussion on Discord there are plenty of community members with good insights and strong views on what is effective and what is not. This consultation period, and the way the team choose to implement this (with input from everyone here) are intended to give the community time to think about how they want to use tools like the forums, Discord, "freeform" on-chain proposals, etc. to do this. Also, like anything, it is ok to experiment! Try a small amount of something and measure the effects before committing to a larger version. 📜 What form is this on-chain treasury governance implemented: on-chain governance or Snapshot? On-chain governance—the docs are HERE 🗳 Will the on-chain treasury be part of Vega's treasury, or will it constitute the entirety of the Vega treasury? It is not part of the team's treasury, it is funds controlled by token holders on chain. The team (technically the company in Gibraltar) will donate some (not all) of its treasury to the on-chain treasury. 💰 Can the community propose a proposal to use part of the on-chain treasury to support supply and improve liquidity on Vega markets? They can send the treasury anywhere but the project team personally wouldn't necessarily recommend this. Liquidity can't be provided in VEGA (it is in stablecoins as these are settlement assets) and selling any significant amount for liquidity would be a big dump on token holders. The "problem" of liquidity is not necessarily a lack of funds, it is more about maturity of the perps product, oracles, incentives, etc. 🪙 What are the sources of the Community Adoption Fund? Is this an additional mint $VEGA or is it from an existing team member? It will be newly issued tokens but will not take the total supply over the initial "mint lock" limit of 64,999,723 (though the lock expired on 01/01/2024). 🏛 Next Steps: 🏛 We encourage the community to kick-off discussions in Discord on how they envision the shaping of the Community Adoption Fund, how you’d like the funds and resources to be spent, etc. Reach out to the team for any questions, the project team is here to help and guide you through the process The 2nd community call around the CAF is tentatively planned to take place the 30th January.
